LOVE BEAUTY & PLANET – COCONUT OIL & YLANG YLANG – HOPE AND REPAIR SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER – Review!

LOVE BEAUTY & PLANET –

I had never heard of this brand before, So I was pretty excited to test a new line of products from a brand I had never used before.

After receiving my package I read more one their website and on the packaging, and I’m impressed. They use recycled plastic for their packaging, they are cruelty free & Vegan.

“Love Beauty and Planet was started by a group of like-minded people who believe that looking good and doing good should go hand-in-hand. We are obsessed with fantastic beauty products, those that we would love to use ourselves too.”

Shampoo –

First of all, this shampoo smells amazing.. Like previously mentioned in the last two reviews for this collection, I was completely pumped to receive the Coconut & Ylang Ylang collection since my favourite scent is coconut. The shampoo was just as amazing. It lathers super well and even though my hair is super long, I didn’t have to use as much as I normally would (which is a lot lol). It also rinsed surprisingly fast compared to other shampoos. It is for damaged hair which was great since mine is pretty damaged from lack of being trimmed and frequently using a flat iron but I have noticed a massive difference since I started using it last week, my hair feels and looks healthier and more shiny and seems to have more volume. I’m definitely impressed and I’ve only used the same shampoo on a regular basis besides testing a few others (which I didn’t like since I hold my regular shampoo to a high level, I tend to not like others.) I don’t know if it would replace my normal brand constantly but I’d definitely purchase it and use it more often and switch between them.

Conditioner –

I’m super picky with my conditioners as a lot tend to weigh down my hair and feel greasy , and I like my hair to feel lighter after washing since it’s again pretty long. However I was pretty happy with how my hair felt after using this, it wasn’t very heavy on my hair which I’m impressed with and it felt nice and soft and helped my tangles. It really does seem to be helping repair as it seems more healthy. I like it, I’d use it again for sure and it smells absolutely incredible like the shampoo.

Rating them both a 5/5, the packaging is cute and a great quality. Well made, The product itself is great I’m loving it and haven’t had any issues.

COCONUT OIL & YLANG YLANG HOPE AND REPAIR – 3 IN 1 BENEFIT OIL

First of all, the directions on the packaging are mildly confusing, ”Spread 1-2 pumps of oil evenly through wet hair using your hands and (obviously) work it, avoid roots”. I assumed like Moroccan oil it was a leave in type of thing, you put it in wet hair after you shower and than continue with your normal routine (for me, blow drying and than straightening). However when I looked up the directions on their website it says

• Using your fingers, divide your hair into sections.
• Apply a coating of Hope & Repair Oil throughout each section. Make sure to put oil though every layer of your hair.
• Wash out in the shower with Hope & Repair Shampoo and Conditioner.

So I ended up re washing my hair after reading it’s a wash out oil, I feel the directions on the packaging weren’t clear on that and reading the other reviews on Chick Advisor it’s clear I wasn’t the only one who assumed it was meant to be after you finished washing your hair.

But the product it’s self I adore it, my hair felt very smooth after putting it in, I ended up using 3 pumps but my hair is fairly long and thick.. It was easy to apply evenly and I love the pump itself I find some pumps are to powerful or give to much product however this one was very gentle and a nice amount of product was given.

I again was super excited to receive the Coconut & Ylang Ylang Collection since coconut is my favourite scent, and these products smell incredible. My hair smells wonderful even after sleeping and hours later it still has a noticeable coconut scent.

The packaging is sturdy and well made (also made from 100% recycled plastic!) it’s also well designed, very cute and eye catching.

Looking at my dead ends today (I really need a trim) they look a lot healthier, my hair feels healthier and feels like it has more volume and it’s shiner and soft, after just one use so I’m excited to use it more.

I’d rate it a 4.5 simply because the directions on the packaging could be better, but I still love the product so far and will continue to use it and would recommend it to anyone who has dry or damaged hair and or loves using hair oils and loves coconut!.

COCONUT & YLANG YLANG TROPICAL HYDRATION BODY WASH

I was super excited about receiving the Coconut & Ylang Ylang collection since coconut is my favourite scent. I wasn’t at all disappointed, and quickly fell in love. I was so excited I used the body wash right away. First things I noticed was how silky the product itself is and how incredible the scent is, scent thing I noticed was how adorable the packaging is!. It’s very well made and sturdy.

Since it is winter time, my skin has been pretty dry and with this ‘Tropical Hydration’ my skin was left feeling soft and smelling awesome!. I’m actually impressed with how good my skin felt immediately after.

I really like this product and this new brand, I’d rate it a 5/5 I have zero issues with this product and I love knowing I can trust a brand.. Can’t wait to use it more!.

NUDE BY NATURE – RADIANT LOOSE POWDER FOUNDATION – Review – Got It Free!

RADIANT LOOSE POWDER FOUNDATION

I got this product free for testing purposes from ChickAdvisor & Nude By Nature

#GotItFree #LoveNudeByNature

The brand just recently launched in Canada, and will be available in Shoppers drug mart stores!, I’m not sure of the exact price at this time I’ll have to look into it but on their website it retails for £25.00, so I’m assuming it’ll be around the same price in Canadian currency.

A little about the brand, Nude by Nature is a mineral makeup company, Completely cruelty free & PETA certified. Nude by Nature was created in 2008 in Sydney, Australia and all their products are made in Australia.

DESCRIPTION

The feather-light Radiant Loose Powder Foundation formula adapts naturally to skin tones, evens out complexion, covers redness and pigmentation, and conceals enlarged pores. The powder foundation is composed of active natural ingredients including the native Australian Kakadu Plum, known for its abundant Vitamin C content; Jojoba Esters to nourish the skin and Kaolin Clay for a radiant flawless complexion.

So first off the powder is fantastic, it’s super smooth, super light and gives good coverage however I personally don’t like just powder foundations, it doesn’t give enough coverage that I crave so I threw it on top of my regular liquid foundation instead of a translucent powder, and I was pleasantly surprised. There was no caking, the coverage was fantastic, it was super easy to blend and creasing was minimal even after a few hours of wear. It was very smoothing, considering I forgot to add a primer underneath (I know!, shame).

The colour however was slightly to dark for my skintone, but mixed with my regular powders it seemed to lighten it up a bit, and I wasn’t upset at all.. I assume it’ll work better in the warmer months for me given it’s winter right now and I’m extremely pale, also can’t wait to try it in the summer on it’s own when it’s to hot to wear liquid foundation when I still want some coverage!.

I’m also obsessed with the packaging, it’s seriously the cutest with the rose gold cover, the font used is adorable and the packaging itself is very well made, very sturdy. Even the box it comes in is well made and luxurious.

I’m very happy with it, and I’m super excited I got the opportunity to test out new products and from a brand I hadn’t heard of, let alone tried but it gave me the chance to fall in love with another brand.  I’m quiet excited to try other products in their line and I’d definitely recommend their loose powder foundation & perfecting primer!.

There is also a large amount of product in it with 10g – 0.35 oz

Rated 4.5/5 on Chick Advisor with 297 reviews – I rate it a 5/5, zero issues and I love it! Just need a lighter shade for myself in the colder months!.

MAYBELLINE – INSTANT AGE REWIND PRIMER SKIN TRANSFORMER – Review!

Instant Age Rewind Primer Skin Transformer.

Retails for $10 (CAD) – Available at Maybelline

I actually really liked this primer, I found it very similar to the smash box photo finish primer with that silicon, pore filling feeling, it’s very thick however it didn’t pill when moved around too much like the smash box primer did for me.

Due to it having silicone in leaves a nice smooth base for building foundation, but it’s kinda awful to put into your pores so I liked to put my regular facial moisturizer on before hand, and it’s quiet slippery in texture so I like to let it set for a few minutes before applying foundation so it dries down and doesn’t move.

I feel like it’s definitely worth the price, but I love more silicone based primers since they fill pores better and I have some scarring on my face I feel it helps to even out better than moisturizing primers, however it might not be best for someone who is prone to acne because it blocks pores.

I picked it up randomly because I needed a primer fast and my go to drugstore primer (an elf one) wasn’t available, and I spotted this and the price was higher than the ELF one but I decided to bite the bullet and purchase it since I didn’t feel like trying to find another one. I’m actually super glad I did because I’ve been using it since and it’s always in my everyday makeup bag.

I really liked that it didn’t feel greasy or oily which some silicone based primers will feel like, it also gave me a nice matte look which I prefer. It is very smooth and a little goes along way!.

It is a great size (25ml), the packaging is pretty regular, the pink is cute though and it’s well made. It’s been in my makeup bag for months now and I’ve never had issues with it.

There is no scent.

I’d recommend it if you like the smash box photo finish primer, I think it’s a good dupe.

I would rate it a 5/5, I really honestly love primer and I’ve never had issues or anything with it, it acts how I like and does what I need it too.

e.l.f. – Makeup Mist & Set – Review

Makeup Mist & Set

Available at E.L.F. & Walmart – Retails for $4 (CAD)

I found the spray part was super powerful and sprayed way to much at once, but I do like the product.. I’m not a huge fan of setting my makeup with it, I found it left marks in my foundation with or without setting powder, but I like to spray my face before applying my normal primers and foundations. I really liked it for spraying my brushes when I’m using glittery/shimmery pigments, I found it really made glitter shadows pop (Like the colour pop palette I recently reviewed). It has a cooling effect with a slight cucumbery scent.

It helped when I extended my arm and sprayed as far away as possible it gave a nice dewy finish (I prefer matte but it isn’t bad for when I’m wanting a dewy finish). I’d advise wrapping your hair before hand, I didn’t like the texture of my hair when the spray got into it.

It was slightly tacky and took a bit longer to dry than I had expected when setting, but priming I really like it, it’s refreshing. The price is definitely great but the product isn’t Urban Decay setting spray quality. It didn’t make a difference in lasting power for my makeup, I’m sure there’s some better you’d get a longer last out of.

The packaging isn’t the cutest as far as setting sprays, but it’s sturdy and well made just a powerful spray. And it’s 60ML so there is a great amount of product.

However, I think it’s great for the price it’s fast, easy & cheaper to use and good to have on hand in my opinion.

I haven’t had any issues as far as sensitivity.

Rating: 3.99/5 stars with 10,619 reviews on Influenster at this time.

I would rate it a 3, it’s not what I want out of a setting spray but the spray is refreshing for before priming, and it’s good for spraying my eye brushes when using them to get a little more out of the pigments. I’d still recommend it because I’m sure everyone will have a different experience as far as what they’re looking for in a setting spray, and I don’t hate it I just personally didn’t like it for setting and the price is good. I’d repurchase it.

Maybelline – Facestudio – Master Contour V-Shape Duo Stick – Review, Got It Free!

Available at Maybelline

Master Contour V-Shape Duo Stick

Retails for $12.96 (CAD)

So this product was the first ever voxbox I got from Influenster, I was super excited receiving my first voxbox since I adore makeup so much.. Well that was short lived. I was so excited that I took it out and swatched it right away, at first it seemed to blend well, it seemed a little waxy but nothing I couldn’t handle.. So I got to work doing a full face to fully test it out, at first it was going great and than I applied it and it felt SO heavy, so waxy, it wouldn’t blend on my face at all. I have tried different foundations, primers etc and this just doesn’t want to work for me and even now swatching it on my hand it feels like a small candle it’s so waxy, and it clung to my pored and really accentuates them.

I quickly realized the ‘Easy 2 in 1’ Isn’t as easy as claimed, I’ve tried blending with brushes, my beauty blender even my fingers and it just seems to sit like mud and move and shift around and cake my foundation, I honestly don’t think I hate a makeup product as much as I hate this. The 2 in 1 seems like a great idea, I originally thought you would do one side than the other, nope.. I tried doing it like a marker and doing highlight and contour at the same time and nope didn’t work either.

It’s way to hard to control, the highlight side doesn’t have light enough shades for lighter skin tones.  The two colours mix on the stick if you aren’t careful, It’s not buildable, and the weird thing is it doesn’t blend, but as you blend more it seems to just disappear like there’s no happy medium.

I really loved the 2 in 1 concept but, I just couldn’t get it to work for me, I was so disappointed I can’t see myself ever buying it again.

I definitely do not recommend this product to anyone- save your money.

I’d rate it a 1, the packaging isn’t awful but the product is in my opinion.

E.L.F. – Shadow Lock Eyelid Primer – Review

Available at E.L.F. CosmeticsWalmart

Shadow Lock Eyelid Primer Review

Retails for $2.97 (CAD)

So I’ve used two of these and the formulas are different so I’ll review them separately and give general facts before hand.

So they are a great price, the product size is 3.25 ml, It’s not huge but a good size and decent amount of product. It has a regular doe tip applicator, it’s feels a tad softer though.

The packaging is pretty cute, it’s sleek and tapers at the end. It feels well made and I haven’t had any issues with it and they’ve been in my makeup bag for around 4 months now.

it’s a light weight formula, used to keep shadows from creasing, longer lasting & for a more vibrant and long lasting eye look. It dries fast, so once you apply some to the lid gently pat/dab it into the skin.

Elf is known for great quality at reasonable prices, a lot of their products are high end but priced for the drug store and it is a cult favourite brand.

There is no scent

Pearl :

So pearl is the white packaged one, it’s the first one I used and right off the bat I hated it.

The formula is very dry, it’s suppose to be a liquid but it’s more like overly wet chalk that’s shimmery on the skin, It doesn’t blend out well, it gave a bit more creasing and it’s very.. gritty, the shimmer in it is almost like it’s chunky glitter, it’s basically a chunky dry formula and it just isn’t what I wanted with my eye shadow primer.

It feels super drying, and tight when fully dry.

I was pretty disappointed in it and have only used it a hand full of times, I wouldn’t repurchase it again.

Sheer :

So Sheer is the more peachy packaged one, it’s the second one I used and again right off the bat I was shocked by how different the formula was, and I actually LOVE this one. I’ve been using it religiously since in my everyday prep.

It’s a gorgeous colour on, it’s pretty translucent when it dries but it gives a good peachy skin look, it seems a tad on the shimmery side but it isn’t that noticeable.

This formula is very creamy, lightweight feeling and blends out like a dream. It is quick drying but as long as you pat and dab quickly it’s great.

Unlike ‘Pearl’ it isn’t gritty, it isn’t dry and doesn’t leave my eyelids feeling dry.

It’s a lot better formula, and i’m a lot happier with this one!.

I’ll definitely be repurchasing

Rating :

It’s rated 3.9/5 stars with 278 reviews at this time on ELF

& Rated 4.31/5 stars with 12,714 reviews at this time on Influenster (It’s rated #6 in eyelid primers on their website)

Together I’d rate them a 5, Separately I would rate Pearl a 1.2 simply because I really didn’t like it, but I know some people would rather that formula personally I wouldn’t, but it’s great packaging, it’s a great price & I’m sure it would work in some way. I would rate Sheer a solid 4.5 because In my opinion it’s one of my favourite shadow primers, the packaging is cute, the price is fantastic and the formula knocked my socks off.
